Forward!

WINStep Forward aims to inspire upcoming generations of researchers to tackle societal problems by enriching their scientific skill set to function on a more globally informed scale. This can only be achieved by equipping the next generation of researchers with a breadth of scientific knowledge derived from a more global scientific mindset that maintains an urgent focus on the betterment of humanity.

WINStep Forward has partnered with the Government of India scientific agencies and with top tier schools across India and the U.S. to achieve the following aims:

  1. Educate U.S. and Indian students with scientific research experience in upper tier Indian and U.S. Institutions and inspire students to endeavor in careers of science and technology research driven fields.
  2. Engage in rural development and food security programs via scientific and technological developments in the agricultural sciences.
  3. Facilitate mutually beneficial scientific research and scientific education based public private partnerships between the U.S. and India.

Listed below are examples of programs WINStep Forward has developed in conjunction with our partners to address the objectives listed above.

Khorana and Bose

The Khorana and Bose scientific student exchanges aim to foster long term partnerships and collaborations among the next generation of pioneers and innovators in science and technology. Students embark on a journey that moves them to research in an area they care about and inspires them to one day provide other young researchers with the same opportunity. Partnership for Indian rural development

UW Madison researchers have led progress in the agricultural sciences for over 100 years. Mahindra and Mahindra is a global leader in the manufacture of agricultural equipment and is the number one retailer of tractors worldwide. These two components combined with the education initiative mandates of the Khorana Program and the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust create a highly successful alliance that has delivered best agricultural practices and technologies to rural communities across India. Partnerships in the Public/Private Sectors

The Khorana technology transfer program is a unique 2 week course that synergizes all facets of technology development, taking participants on the exciting pilgrimage an idea makes on its expedition from the lab bench to the market shelf. Participants meet inspirational leaders that represent the full spectrum of expertise required to transform a fledging technology into a finished product. A more detailed description of the program can be found under the Tech Transfer course link.
